■ 비틀즈의 [Revolver]는 영국에서는 1966년 8월 5일에, 미국에서는 1966년 8월 8일에 각각 출시가 되었다. 영국반으로는 7번째에 해당하는 앨범이고, 미국반으로는 13번째에 해당하는 앨범이 된다. 그리고 영국반에는 14곡이 수록되어 있지만, 미국반에는 3곡이 빠진 11곡이 수록되어 있다. 빠진 곡은 <And Your Bird Can Sing>, <I'm Only Sleeping>, <Doctor Robert>이다.

■ 1967년작 [Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band]와 함께 사이키델릭 록을 접목시키면서, 아이돌 밴드에서 아티스트적인 면모를 과시했었던 음악적 전환기의 시초가 되는 작품으로 평가 받는다.

■ 앨범에서는 <Yellow Submarine>, <Eleanor Rigby>가 싱글로 커트되어 출시되었으며, <Yellow Submarine>이 1966년 빌보드 핫 100 2위, <Eleanor Rigby>가 빌보드 핫 100 11위 까지를 기록하였다. 앨범은 미국에서만 500만장이 이상이 팔려나가면서 1966년 9월 10일 부터 6주간 빌보드 앨범 차트 1위를 차지하였다.

■ 참고로, 비틀즈의 [Revolver]는 롤링 스톤지에서 선정한 '위대한 앨범 500'에서 당당히 3위에 올라있기도 하다.

■ 싱글로만 따진다면 비틀즈의 유일한 경쟁자라고 할 수 있을 정도로 발표하는 싱글들 마다 빌보드 핫 100 1위곡을 계속해서 배출했던 것과는 달리, 앨범으로서는 1966년 9번째 앨범이 되는 [The Supremes A' Go-Go]가 빌보드 앨범 차트에 처음으로 1위를 차지하게 된다. 

■ 앨범에서는 <Love Is Like an Itching in My Heart>, <You Can't Hurry Love>가 싱글로 채택되어 출시되었으며, 그 중 리드 싱글인 <Love Is Like an Itching in My Heart>가 빌보드 핫 100 9위를, 2번째 싱글인 <You Can't Hurry Love>가 빌보드 핫 100 1위를 차지하였다. 앨범은 미국에서만 100만장 이상의 앨범 판매고를 올리면서 1966년 10월 22일 부터 2주간 빌보드 앨범 차트 1위를 차지하였다.
